Chocolate Chip Cookie Bliss Balls

Whether it’s mid-morning or late in the afternoon, at some point or another, we all need a healthy snack to boost our energy levels. The key to healthy snacking is to opt for foods with a combination of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, protein and plenty of fibre—and these bliss balls deliver on all fronts! Plus, with the same taste and texture of real cookie dough, they’ll satisfy every sweet craving. 

They’re so quick and easy to put together. Simply combine all ingredients in a bowl, mix until a dough is formed and then roll into perfectly portioned balls. Almo Crème provides a nutritious base filled with healthy monounsaturated fats, plant-based protein and vitamin E. The addition of dark vegan chocolate boosts their antioxidant activity.

Almond meal and oat flour are both excellent sources of dietary fibre and contain more protein than most other flours. However, you can ramp up the protein content of these bliss balls by substituting half the oat flour with your favourite vanilla-flavoured vegan protein powder.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (125g) gluten-free oat flour, preferably whole grain
  • 2/3 cup (80g) almond meal
  • 2/3 cup (170g) vegan chocolate chips, 70-85% cocoa
  • 3 tbsp Almo Crème
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. Combine oat flour, almond meal, maple syrup, vanilla extract and Almo Crème in a medium bowl. Using a wooden spoon, mix until all ingredients come together into a cohesive dough.
  2. Add chocolate chips and fold to combine. If the mixture is too dry, add a few tablespoons of Almo Milk.
  3. Using a spoon, scoop portions of dough and roll into round balls using your hands. Transfer into an airtight container lined with baking paper.  
  4. These balls are best enjoyed on the same day. But can be kept for 1 week in your refrigerator or frozen for 3 months. Simply remove from the freezer and thaw before eating.
